At the same time, for the first time in the last 7 quarters, wages increased in real terms: starting from the IV quarter of 2021 and until the previous quarter, the inflation rate exceeded the growth of wages. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in the enterprises of the real sector of economy with 4 or more employees and in budgetary institutions, the average salary in April-June 2023 amounted to 12,175.9 lei. The average monthly salary in the budgetary sector amounted to 10,208 lei (+17.2% compared to the same period of 2022), while in the real sector of economy - 12,852.6 lei (+17.3%). The highest salaries in the second quarter of 2023 were received by workers in the ICT sector - 30,521.3 lei on average (+15.1%), in the financial and insurance sector - 24,704 lei (+21.1%), in the enterprises producing and supplying electricity, gas, water, air conditioning - 18,382.2 lei (+22.5%). The salaries were higher than the national average for specialists in the field of scientific and technical activity - 13,905.8 lei (+9.8%), in the field of public administration and defense, mandatory social insurance - 13,455.9 lei (+14.1%), in health care and social protection - 13,585.9 lei (+15.8%). The lowest salaries remain in the tourist accommodation and catering sector - 7,445.8 lei (+11.8%), as well as in agriculture, forestry and fishery - 7,643 lei (+14.6%). In arts, recreation and entertainment, the average salary amounted to 9,047.8 lei (+24.6%), in administrative services and support activities - 9,546.3 lei (+23%), and in real estate operations - 9,699.9 lei (+14.6%). In the second quarter of 2023, the average salary of employees in the transport and warehousing services sector amounted to 10,684.6 lei (+27.7%); in the education system - 9,950.1 lei (+20%); in construction - 10,188.5 lei (+11.5%); in trade, repair of machinery and motorcycles - 10,860.4 lei (+17.5%).
