Almost 140 applicants have been enrolled to study "professions of the future" in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Almost 140 applicants have been enrolled to study "professions of the future" in the 2023-2024 academic year.

These are the results of the main round of admission of documents and creative competition for the training programs "Multimedia Production", "Game Design" and "Animation". The corresponding orders were signed by the rectors of 4 universities, in which new specialties were introduced last year. Among them are the State University of Moldova (USM), the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), the State Pedagogical University I.Creanga (UPSC) and the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts (AMTAP). In the first round, the most applicants (81 people) are enrolled at UTM, which offers training in animation and game design. Specifically, 24 people will receive a scholarship (12 in each direction), and 57 will study on a contractual basis (47 people - game design and 10 people - animation). The cost of studying these specialties on a contractual basis at UTM is 14 thousand lei per year for Moldovan citizens and 2310 euros (more than 44 thousand lei) for foreigners. The State University of Moldova has enrolled 28 budgetary students who will study the specialties "Multimedia Production" and "Game Design". There are 22 more places available for contractual education in the second round. The tuition fee for the new specialties at USM is 13 thousand lei per year. At the same time, foreign citizens are charged 1500 euros per year (29 thousand lei), except for the citizens of Ukraine and Romania, for whom the tariffs valid for Moldovan citizens are applied. The UPSC, where animation and game design studies have been introduced, has enrolled 26 applicants, 12 of them with budgetary financing. The tuition fee for new specialties in this university is 12 thousand lei per year. For foreign citizens, the fee is 1,500 euros (29,000 lei), except for the citizens of Romania, Ukraine, as well as Romanians and Moldovans from other CIS countries - they are subject to the tariff in force for Moldovan citizens. Another 4 students will study animation at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, 2 of them will receive a scholarship. The final number of enrolled applicants will be known after the second round. It should be reminded that since the last academic year the training of specialists in 3 new specialties: multimedia production, game design and animation began in the mentioned 4 universities. Introduction of new specialties into the educational program became possible with the assistance of the Future Technologies Activity (FTA), which is financed by USAID, Sweden and Great Britain. Training involves the active use of technology and interactive format of courses, and practice will be carried out in large companies that need specialists in these areas (3D animators, artists with knowledge of digital technologies, UX/UI designers, VR/AR programmers, special effects designers, scriptwriters, producers of TV series and documentaries, TV producers, etc.). In 2023, 287 students successfully completed their first year in new specialities. // 09.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
