Universities in Moldova have begun admissions for the 2024-2024 academic year: this year, 8,704 state-funded study places are offered.

The Ministry of Education and Research reports that this year universities offer candidates 8.7 thousand budget places for studying in the I and II cycle of higher education, as well as in residency. Places are distributed according to the needs of the labor market. Of the total number of budget places at the higher education and master's level, every fourth place will be provided in the direction of "Educational Sciences" (2079 places), another 1654 places will be allocated to candidates who have chosen to study in the areas of "Engineering and technical activity", "Production technologies" and "Architecture and construction". 904 budget places were allocated for the sphere of information and communication technologies, 937 for health care (residency and clinical residency); 276 state-funded places are distributed in the areas of "Agricultural Sciences", "Veterinary" and "Environmental Sciences" and another 2864 state-funded places are distributed among candidates for training in other specialties. At the same time, within the framework of bilateral agreements concluded with different countries, 106 state-funded places are offered for the admission of foreign citizens for training, priority is given to citizens of Ukraine. For the first time, the 2023 intake includes three new government-approved majors: data science, digital manufacturing, agribusiness, and rural development. Similarly, given the development of creative companies in Moldova, including those with foreign investment, applicants can apply for the professions of the future, for which the number of budget places has been increased - multimedia production, game design and animation, as well as for the entire field of information and communication technologies. Recall that these specialties were introduced with the support of the Future Technologies (FTA) project, which is funded by USAID, Sweden and the United Kingdom. In addition to budget places, applicants can study on a contract basis. The cost of one year of study at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy ranges from 19.3 thousand lei at the Faculty of General Medical Assistance or Public Health to 42.3 thousand lei at the Faculty of Dentistry; at the Technical University - from 12 thousand lei (most specialties) to 17 thousand lei per year (architecture), at the State Pedagogical University named after I. Creanga - from 7 thousand lei (at the Faculty of Geography, Biology and Chemistry) to 12 thousand lei (game design, animation); at the University of Physical Culture and Sports - from 7.5 thousand lei in the specialty "Physical Education" to 18 thousand lei in the specialties "Fitness and nutrition", "Sports management", etc. To be eligible for the admissions process, applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, a vocational diploma or an equivalent document of study accepted by a body authorized to recognize and equate documents of study and qualifications. The main admissions session this year runs from July 24th to 31st, with results to be announced on August 1st. Applicants will be able to submit original documents from August 2 to 4, according to the schedule set by each university. The final results will be announced on August 7th. The Ministry of Education notes that applicants can register for the competition at the same time in one or more universities in various areas of professional training. In each of the selected institutions, they can choose, in order of priority, the maximum number of programs established by the senate of the educational institution, but they can be enrolled in a single curriculum within one institution of those they have chosen by providing original documents of study. If there are vacancies, universities will organize additional admission sessions for both cycles before the start of the new academic year. //24.07.2023 – InfoMarket.
