Moldova approves new support measures for families with children.
This is stipulated by the relevant amendments to the Labor Code, the Law on temporary disability benefits and other social insurance benefits and the Law on the state system of social insurance, passed by the Parliament in the second reading. One of the provisions of the draft law will ensure greater flexibility in the use of parental leave. In particular, it is stipulated that paternity leave may be granted in full or divided into parts. At the same time, a range of options will be available for parents who take other maternity leave immediately or shortly after paternity leave to establish maternity and parenting benefits. The proposed changes also allow self-employed fathers to use parental leave. The bill provides support measures for families who have adopted children by establishing a number of leaves for parents who are in the process of adoption, have adopted a child, or have placed a child under guardianship service in their family. These include partially paid leave for adoptive parents during the period of trust management, fully paid leave for adoptive parents, paid leave to care for a child, and partially paid leave to care for an adopted child who is three years old on the date of adoption. According to the authors, these initiatives are meant to support families in Moldova and ensure a balance between family and professional life of parents. //01.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
