Moldova will be able to cover a quarter of its gas needs by purchasing gas from OMV Petrom produced under the Neptun Deep project - the Ministry of Energy

Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu announced this to journalists while commenting on the signing by state-owned Energocom of a purchase agreement with OMV Petrom for the purchase of natural gas produced under the Neptun Deep project on the Black Sea shelf. According to him, gas supplies could begin in 2027. “From the start of gas production, we will receive about a quarter of our natural gas consumption from the Neptun Deep field,” Dorin Junghietu explained. He stressed that Energocom's contract with OMV Petrom will benefit the country, as diversifying natural gas supply sources strengthens energy security. The Minister of Energy noted that the purchase price of gas from the Neptun Deep field is currently confidential, but it includes a market index and a discount. Dorin Junghietu also stated that there are indications that this contract will have a positive impact on Moldova's average natural gas purchase price. // 07.05.2025 – InfoMarket.
