Moldova, with the support of the Energy Community Secretariat, continues to make rapid progress in its integration into the EU energy market
This was stated at meetings that Energy Minister Dorin Jungietu held in Paris with representatives of GRDF, the main natural gas distribution system operator in France, and with Emmanuelle Wargon, president of the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). The Energy Ministry said that during the talks with the representatives of the French regulatory bodies, the sides discussed the situation and prospects for the development of Moldova's energy sector. With representatives of the natural gas distribution system operator (GRDF), Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu discussed the French experience in managing natural gas networks, as well as ways of investing in the development of the network for the benefit of end consumers. In discussions with Emmanuel Wargon, President of the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), he presented the objectives of harmonizing national rules with EU legislation, which are part of the Electricity Integration Package. Dorin Junghietu also emphasized the importance of the new legislative provisions that will transpose the EU's Energy Package IV into the Clean Energy Package, which is mandatory for Moldova, a signatory of the Energy Community Treaty since 2022. The Energy Minister also said that the implementation of the III Energy Package allowed eliminating Gazprom's control over our gas transport system operator, thus enhancing the security of supplies and diversifying the gas sources. The sides also discussed the completion of the unbundling process in the energy sector, successfully achieved through the certification of Moldelectrica according to the “independent system operator” model. Dorin Junghietu reiterated that, thanks to the support of the Energy Community Secretariat, Moldova continues to make rapid progress in its integration into the EU energy market. //13.03.2025 - InfoMarket.
