The Ministry of Energy of Moldova urges all consumers to continue to use electricity rationally, especially during peak hours, in order to avoid fan blackouts on the right bank of the Nistru/Dniester River

State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan said that during peak hours, electricity is imported at a higher price. According to him, it is extremely important to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours - in the morning from 7 to 11 a.m. and in the evening from 6 to 11 p.m., especially in the evening. Some work is recommended to be shifted to night time if possible. Companies that can organize night work and use smart meters compatible with the system also benefit from a differentiated tariff, which is lower during night hours. Constantin Borosan said that the Energy Ministry and the government as a whole take all the necessary measures to properly manage the situation on the right bank of the Nistru/Dniester River. The electricity consumption is covered by the generation at the thermal power plants in Chisinau and Balti, the hydro-power plant in Costeşti, renewable energy sources installed all over the country and the import of electricity from Romania, both under bilateral contracts and from the stock exchange. Around the clock, power engineers ensure the reliable operation of the energy infrastructure: fuel supply to power plants, power generation at power plants, transportation through high-voltage lines, distribution to consumers' outlets through medium and low voltage networks, cross-border capacity reservation, daily purchases on the exchange and delivery of electricity to consumers. “These are activities invisible to most of us, thanks to which we have light and heat in our homes. In addition, we have managed to secure natural gas reserves for the entire cold season to safely survive this winter. It is crucial for all of us to use electricity wisely and efficiently.
