As reported by the Cabinet of Ministers, electricity consumption in Moldova was fully covered on January 2, and as of today, January 3, the required volume of electricity for the right bank of the Dniester has also been provided, despite the fact that electricity consumption is projected to grow by 10%. As specified by the government, on January 2, the entire required volume of electricity was covered by domestic sources and imports from Romania, after Moldova no longer receives electricity from the Moldovan State District Power Plant on January 1. An increase of more than 6 times was recorded in the production of energy from renewable sources. In particular, the following energy sources were used on January 2: imports from Romania - 48.22%; Termoelectrica - 30.88%; renewable energy - 15.31%; CET-Nord - 4.43%; Costesti HPP - 1.16%. Electricity consumption is expected to increase by 10% today, and Energocom has already reserved sufficient commercial capacity on the border with Romania to cover the consumption needs on January 3. At the same time, citizens are urged to consume energy efficiently and rationally, especially during peak hours - 09:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00, to ensure the stability of the energy system. The government noted that there were no accidents or incidents in either gas or thermal energy on January 2. On the left bank, the MGRES switched to coal and covers electricity consumption in the region. The existing coal reserves will last for 30-50 days. The police, medical and emergency services are ready to provide support to people who need help. The central authorities are in constant contact with the mayors of the disconnected settlements to exchange information on the situation in the region. // 03.01.2025 – InfoMarket.
