Moldova and Bulgaria will cooperate to ensure uninterrupted electricity and gas supplies
They will also cooperate to effectively manage possible crisis situations. The provisions of their joint action plan are included in a memorandum of agreement signed on November 13 by Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov and his Bulgarian counterpart Vladimir Malinov on the margins of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku. According to the Ministry of Energy of Moldova, the memorandum provides for the establishment within 30 days from the date of signing of a joint working group on energy, which will bring together representatives of the Ministries of Energy of both states and operators of electricity and natural gas transmission systems. This group will develop and implement a joint action plan and solidarity measures to be activated in the event of an energy crisis at the request of one of the parties. The joint action plan will include measures to ensure a balance in the electricity and gas transportation networks and support the access of Moldovan companies to the storage infrastructure and energy markets in Bulgaria. The memorandum also envisages the application of solidarity measures in case of crisis, with the obligation that they will be implemented without compromising the energy security of the supplying country. “Moldovan-Bulgarian relations are particularly close; Bulgaria is Moldova's partner in many fields: economic, social, educational and energy. We are happy to develop this strategic partnership, which contributes to the stability and energy security of both states,” Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said during the event. At the same time, the signed document emphasizes Moldova's efforts to integrate into the single European energy market and contributes to achieving the objectives of the European Union and the Energy Community regarding solidarity and stability of supplies. //13.11.2024 - InfoMarket.
