Sustainable Energy Investment Hub launched in Moldova
This is an innovative platform designed for partners in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector. The Hub aims to bring together all stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy to facilitate cooperation and promote sustainable solutions. The initiative is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom through the USAID Moldova Energy Security (MESA) project. At the meeting to establish the Hub, which took place on November 1, 2024, its founding members, representing organizations from all relevant sectors, discussed the main challenges of the sector and signed an agreement to establish the Hub. State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Carolina Novac welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the Hub will play an important role in resource mobilization and implementation of energy projects. "Energy efficiency and renewable energy are fundamental for the sustainable development of the country. It is essential to develop financial solutions and facilitate access of beneficiaries to technologies that help combat climate change. This platform will bring together authorities, the private sector, associations and academia, ensuring that every opinion is heard. The most valuable progress comes from cooperation, and this hub will stimulate the implementation of projects,” said Carolina Novac. Energy expert, USAID Representative in Moldova Marina Vardanyan noted in turn that the launch of the hub is an important step in strengthening the voice of the private sector, which plays a decisive role in the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency. According to her, it is essential to join forces to discuss issues, create connections and explore cooperation opportunities. MESA Project Director Armen Arzumanyan emphasized that the potential of the energy efficiency and renewable energy sector in Moldova exceeds $2 billion, and progress in this area depends on close cooperation between the public and private sectors. “We want this platform to become an open space for dialogue, where all parties involved can contribute to the development of the industry and the improvement of the legislative framework,” Armen Arzumanyan emphasized. The hub will provide real support in simplifying bureaucratic procedures, facilitating quick access to resources and necessary permits, and promoting transparency and a fair competitive environment. The hub will also centralize legislative information, provide clear recommendations for project implementation, and support professional development through training programs. An important component of the hub’s work will be an online platform that will centralize all the necessary information and facilitate interaction between beneficiaries, investors, and developers. It will include industry reports, educational materials, and financing opportunities, connecting investors with those interested in implementing sustainable projects in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. Hub members will have access to up-to-date information on the renewable energy and energy efficiency market, including relevant legislation, tariffs, pricing, and examples of successful projects. The Sustainable Energy Investment Hub will also facilitate strategy development and access to financing for green infrastructure projects by providing an effective network between investors, authorities and developers. // 01.11.2024 — InfoMarket
