Moldova and Bulgaria will sign a Memorandum of Agreement on cooperation in the field of security of energy supply
The Ministry of Energy announced this, noting that this partnership will contribute to the stability of energy supply of both states and the development of common solutions for energy security in the region. The document will be signed within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, where a delegation of the Moldovan Ministry of Energy, headed by the head of the ministry, Victor Parlicov, is taking part. The event brings together representatives of 197 countries and is aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement, with a focus on raising global ambitions, ensuring climate justice and promoting sustainable development. This year's session focuses on green finance and the creation of a new fund financed by fossil energy producers, companies and countries to benefit countries affected by climate change. During COP29, Victor Parlicov will hold a number of bilateral meetings, including with his Azerbaijani counterpart Parviz Shahbazov Oktay. The discussions will explore the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in the energy sector with Moldova's regional partners. Victor Parlicov will also represent our country on a panel dedicated to the green economy and climate action for sustainable growth. He will speak about the challenges and necessary measures for Moldova's transition to sustainable development in the context of climate change. State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Carolina Novac will take part in a series of discussions and meetings to discuss the importance of the green transition for effective climate action, trade policies and cross-border mechanisms needed for a low-carbon economy, and investment expansion. In the field of energy efficiency, renewable energy in Europe and Central Asia will be discussed, as well as solutions to improve energy efficiency in the building sector. COP29 brings together heads of state, political leaders, youth, climate experts and civil society every year to address the urgent challenges of climate change. This year's central themes include building adaptive capacity, building resilience and reducing vulnerability to climate change, especially in developing countries. // 12.11.2024 – InfoMarket
