Moldova is technically ready for any scenario in case of a gas crisis in the region and emergencies in the gas sector - Energy Ministry
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov announced this during a meeting with the new UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova, Yeşim Oruç. According to the Energy Ministry, Victor Parlicov presented the Ministry's priorities, naming among them energy security and integration into the EU energy market. “The Energy Ministry is firmly committed to strengthening Moldova's energy security and facilitating its connection to the European market, which is an important aspect of the country's stability and economic development,” Victor Parlicov said. He also spoke about the launch of the first renewable energy auctions in Moldova, a project that opens the door to national and international investments in the construction of wind and photovoltaic parks with a capacity of 165 MW. Another topic of discussions was the digitalization of the energy sector, including the installation of smart meters as part of a pilot project implemented by UNDP in Moldova with the support of the Italian government. “Smart meters are an important step towards the introduction of differentiated tariffs based on electricity consumption, while smart grids will contribute to better consumption management, integration of more locally produced renewable energy sources and ultimately reducing energy dependency and greenhouse gas emissions,” said Victor Parlicov. In the context of the gas crisis in the region, which also affected Moldova, the participants in the meeting discussed the action plan for emergency situations in the natural gas sector. Victor Parlicov assured that Moldova is technically ready for any scenario. Yeşim Oruç reiterated the UN's firm support for Moldova's sustainable development. // 07.11.2024 - InfoMarket
