Romania is ready to supply Moldova with natural gas from its gas storage facilities in case of necessity
Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja announced this, noting that Romania will continue to support Moldova in ensuring energy security. He noted that Moldova itself has already made a reserve and additional gas stock in the neighboring country, while the volume of gas that Energocom has accumulated in Romania will be enough for a long time. “These volumes cover the reserve stock and there is an additional one that can be used. I think this will be enough for quite a long time even in winter. But in addition to these reserves, Romania is ready to send to support Moldova the volumes that are already in storage or those that will be produced in winter. We will always be by your side,” the Romanian Energy Minister said. At the same time, Victor Binzari, Interim Director of the state-owned company Energocom, said that Moldova now stores about 50 million cubic meters of gas in Romania. “Given the uncertainty due to the war in Ukraine, Energocom's Board of Directors decided to store gas in Romania, and there we have about 50 million cubic meters. With the onset of cold weather, this gas will be sent to Moldovan companies that supply it to citizens,” he said. According to the government's decision adopted this spring, the gas reserve should amount to 15% of the annual consumption, which is about 150 million cubic meters. Almost a third of this volume, 47 million cubic meters, is a reserve stock for emergencies, which should be enough for at least 10 days of winter consumption. A volume equivalent to half of the reserve has been accumulated in Ukraine. // 28.10.2024 - InfoMarket
