Moldova’s market of energy efficiency services for buildings can attract investments amounting to 1 billion euros in the coming years - Victor Parlicov
The Energy Minister announced this during the Investor Connect International Forum dedicated to innovative solutions to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. The Forum taking place on October 3-4 is organized by the Ministry of Energy in partnership with the National Center for Sustainable Energy. During the Forum, the Residential Energy Efficiency Fund of Moldova (FEERM) was also officially launched, which will finance the rehabilitation of more than 0.5 million square meters of housing in the next 3 years. “Energy efficiency works in buildings will not only reduce energy bills and increase comfort in our homes, but will also contribute to Moldova's economic growth by creating income for construction companies, new jobs, taxes and, at the same time, they will reduce the burden on energy imports,” Victor Parlicov said. The Minister recalled that the construction sector is the biggest energy consumer in Moldova, accounting for about 50% of the final consumption, and about 1/4 of the consumed energy is lost due to low energy efficiency. Thus, investments in this sector will practically demonstrate the benefits of European integration, increasing the thermal comfort and reducing the citizens' bills. Victor Parlicov invited the companies specialized in this field to come to Moldova to benefit from the new opportunities, noting that it will be easier to enter the Ukrainian market from here, once the country's recovery process starts. The Energy Minister recalled that Moldova used the energy crisis of the last years to make a breakthrough in ensuring energy security, and only after that, it became possible to implement long-term programs, such as the rehabilitation of residential and public buildings. The Investor Connect Forum is organized to facilitate the introduction of innovative energy efficiency solutions in buildings to the Moldovan market, promote financing programs by the National Center for Sustainable Energy to attract investments in the sector, present the current policy and regulatory framework, and discuss the future direction to support the implementation of energy efficiency practices in the buildings sector. The Forum also promotes best practices in the design, construction and retrofit of buildings that improve energy efficiency. // 03.10.2024 - InfoMarket.
