The Moldovan Banking Association and the USAID Moldova MESA project discuss cooperation to improve energy efficiency in the country

In particular, the Moldovan Banking Association and the USAID Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA) project held a working meeting to explore cooperation opportunities in the field of energy efficiency. The MESA team, represented by the Deputy Project Director Mariana Botezatu and the energy efficiency expert Grigore Retis, presented the key initiatives of the project, which include the development of a legal framework and the attraction of investments to improve the energy efficiency of residential and administrative buildings in Moldova. The central point of the discussions was the Super ESCO program, implemented by MESA, which is based on a new financing model and involves the reimbursement of investments through savings on energy bills. MESA also presented the concept of creating an Investment Hub - a platform that will bring together financiers, developers and beneficiaries, facilitating cooperation in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The President of the Moldovan Banking Association, Dorel Noroc, expressed openness to cooperation and emphasized the interest of the banking sector in analyzing and supporting mechanisms for financing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. This joint initiative of ABM and MESA underlines the commitment of both organizations to supporting Moldova’s transition to a more energy-efficient economy, thus contributing to sustainable development and improving the quality of life of its citizens. // 30.09.2024 – InfoMarket.
