
Romania is ready to support Moldova both in the field of natural gas and electricity supplies, if necessary
This was stated by Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Cristian-Leon Turcanu at a meeting with Energy Minister Victor Parlicov, at which the sides discussed the Moldovan-Romanian bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. According to the Energy Ministry, Victor Parlicov thanked Romania for its constant assistance and willingness to back Moldova also this winter, stressing that Moldova keeps in Romania its reserve stocks of natural gas for the cold season, while the electricity not covered by the local production is also purchased from the Romanian market. The Energy Minister reiterated the importance of the timely completion of the electricity connections between the two countries, which will increase Moldova's energy security and ensure a physical connection to the European energy market. The sides referred to the construction of high-voltage transmission lines Vulcanesti-Chisinau, Balti-Suceava and Straseni-Gutinas, with the completion of the last transmission line scheduled for 2029.
