The purchase price of gas to be supplied by Gazprom to Moldova in April 2024 decreased by $12.48 (-3.7%) - to $327.27 per 1,000 cubic meters month-on-month.

The purchase price of gas to be supplied by Gazprom to Moldova in April 2024 decreased by $12.48 (-3.7%) - to $327.27 per 1,000 cubic meters month-on-month.

According to Vadim Ceban, Chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz, in particular, in April 2024, the purchase price of natural gas supplied by Gazprom to Moldova, taking into account the calorific value, will be $327.27 per 1,000 cubic meters. According to him, as before, the entire volume of gas from Gazprom will be directed for the needs of Tiraspoltransgaz. Earlier, the head of Moldovagaz said that in March 2024, the cost of gas supplied by Gazprom to Moldova amounted to $339.75 per 1,000 cubic meters, in February 2024 - $354.34 per 1,000 cubic meters, and in January 2024 - $378.1 per 1,000 cubic meters. It is worth mentioning that Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said earlier that Moldova's right-bank Moldova may buy gas from Gazprom again if it offers a more favorable price relative to other suppliers. He said that, starting from May 2024, Moldovagaz will start buying gas at the Moldovan exchange based on monthly contracts from those who offer the best price. Victor Parlicov recalled that, according to the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations, by the end of April this year. Moldovagaz will buy natural gas from the state company Energocom at 550 euros per 1,000 cubic meters, and after that it will return to normal mode and will buy gas at the stock exchange in Moldova, through a trading platform created by BRM East Energy, a subdivision of the Romanian Commodity Exchange. As planned, each month gas will be bought on the exchange from the one who offers the best price. For the time being, the mechanism of buying gas on the exchange on the terms of one-month contracts will be implemented and a comparison will be made with the prices offered by Gazprom, and subsequently it is planned to switch to longer contracts, especially when buying gas in winter periods. As InfoMarket reported earlier, according to Moldovagaz, the average annual gas purchase price for Moldova in 2023 is $795.38 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is $46.24 (5.5%) less than a year earlier. Moldovagaz forecasts that the average purchase price of natural gas for Moldova in 2024 will be $518.91 per 1,000 cubic meters. The price of gas from Gazprom is calculated according to a special formula that takes into account two components: the cost of a basket of oil products (gasoil and fuel oil) and the value of one of the stock exchange indices (TTF front month) in different proportions. In particular, in Q1 and Q4 of each year, 70% of the gas price for Moldova depends on the cost of the basket of oil products (gasoil and fuel oil) and 30% depends on the spot prices for gas on the exchange, while in Q2 and Q3 (from April to September) the reverse formula is used and the gas price is made up of 70% of the average monthly gas price for the previous month and 30% of the price of the oil basket. // 01.04.2024 - InfoMarket
