Moldova is advancing on the path of energy integration in the EU and has almost fully implemented the III Energy Package – the Ministry of Energy.
This was reported by the state secretary of the Energy Ministry, Constantin Borosan, who said that, in particular, the preliminary certification by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) of VestMoldTransGaz (VMTG), Moldova's natural gas transportation and system operator, is the penultimate stage in achieving unbundling in the natural gas sector. The Energy Community Secretariat should still give its opinion, while ANRE should make the final decision. According to Constantin Borosan, unbundling means that national and international traders have transparent and guaranteed access to the transportation network, while Gazprom no longer has simultaneous control over transportation and supply, and finally, thanks to market competition, the benefit will go to end consumers who will be free to choose their supplier and price. "It took a lot of dedication, cooperation, developments, meetings, procedures, etc. to get to this stage. Congratulations to our colleagues at ANRE and VMTG! Thank you all for your participation!" noted Constantin Borosan. // 19.02.2024 - InfoMarket.
