The purchase price of gas supplied by Gazprom to Moldova in February 2024, compared to the previous month, decreased by almost $24 (-6.3%) - to $354.34 per 1,000 cubic meters.

This was reported by the chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban, who said that, in particular, the purchase price of natural gas supplied by Gazprom to Moldova, taking into account the calorific value, will amount to $354.34 per 1,000 cubic meters, while in January the same indicator amounted to $378.1 per 1,000 cubic meters. The head of Moldovagaz emphasized that, as before, the entire volume of gas from Gazprom will be directed for the needs of Tiraspoltransgaz. As previously reported by InfoMarket, according to Moldovagaz, the average annual purchase price of gas for Moldova in 2023 amounted to $795.38 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is $46.24 (5.5%) less than a year earlier. At the same time, in the first quarter of 2023, the average gas purchase price was $1094.51 per 1,000 cubic meters, in the second quarter - $649.77, in the third quarter - $551.6, and in the fourth quarter - $605 per 1,000 cubic meters. In particular, the purchase price of natural gas in January 2023 amounted to $1136.59 per 1,000 cubic meters, in February - $1072.11, in March - $1062.80, in April - $672.2, in May - $655, in June - $567.5, in July - $549.95, in August - $527, in September - $568.1, in October - $605, in November - $605, in December - $605. Moldovagaz forecasts that the average natural gas purchase price for Moldova in 2024 is expected to be $518.91 per 1,000 cubic meters. The gas price from Gazprom is calculated according to a special formula that takes into account 2 components: the cost of a basket of oil products (gasoil and fuel oil) and the value of one of the stock exchange indices (TTF front month) in different proportions. In particular, in the I and IV quarters of each year, 70% of the gas price for Moldova depends on the cost of the oil basket (gasoil and fuel oil), and 30% depends on the spot prices for gas on the exchange, while in the II and III quarters, i.e. from April to September, the reverse formula is used and the gas price is made up of 70% of the average monthly gas price for the previous month and 30% of the price of the oil basket. // 01.02.2024 - InfoMarket
