Small and medium-sized enterprises in Moldova can receive grants of up to $30 thousand to improve energy efficiency under the MESA project.

This was announced by the Ministry of Energy of Moldova and USAID Moldova, noting that this assistance is intended for small and medium-sized enterprises that want to improve energy efficiency and reduce the cost of energy in their monthly bills by replacing or installing more energy efficient equipment or machinery. To support small and medium-sized enterprises in our country in their efforts to save on energy bills and reduce costs, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the British Embassy in Moldova, within the framework of the Moldova Energy Security Project (MESA), provides them with free financial assistance of up to $30 thousand (about 522 thousand lei) to replace outdated equipment with new, more energy efficient ones. The grants are intended for SMEs in the commercial, industrial and agricultural sectors interested in improving energy efficiency associated with the production of goods and will be provided subject to a minimum contribution. The MESA grant for equipment purchases covers up to 50% of the total cost of the project (excluding VAT), but not more than $30 thousand, and can only be used for the purchase of equipment. Costs for materials and equipment installation are not covered by the grant and must be covered by the beneficiary. Equipment eligible for renewal includes, but is not limited to: heat pumps (all types); highly efficient condensing gas boilers; technological equipment associated with the production of goods, and technologically efficient small cogeneration and trigeneration plants, solar collectors for hot water (production of hot water for domestic needs); electric motors equipped with a frequency converter; ventilation units with heat recovery and other equipment that help reduce energy consumption and increase the efficiency of small and medium-sized businesses.
