A year has passed since the launch of the gas interconnector between Greece and Bulgaria, which is important for Moldova and was first used for commercial purposes by Energocom.
According to a statement by the Moldovan state-owned company Energocom, on this occasion representatives of transportation companies and traders from the states along the so-called vertical corridor (Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia) met in Sofia to discuss infrastructure projects aimed at increasing gas transportation capacity along the new route. Energocom was the first company to use this interconnector for commercial purposes last December, it later used it extensively in February this year and the route proved to be very popular. On Energocom's side, Ruslan Tiora, Head of System Operator Interconnection Department, took part in the meeting. The participants, who gathered in Sofia, promised to improve alternative routes for gas supplies to the countries in the region. At the next stage, the transport operators agreed to launch and complete the mandatory market testing of additional capacity, while preparing the necessary next steps by both technical and commercial working groups. As potential beneficiaries of the vertical corridor, representatives of companies from Moldova and Ukraine also participated in the working session as observers. // 30.11.2023 - InfoMarket.
