Citizens of Moldova can take advantage of vouchers for replacing light bulbs and partial compensation for the cost of updating household appliances.
This is provided for by the Rabla pentru Electrocasnice (“Replacing junk with household appliances”) program, which was officially launched on Thursday. The program is being implemented thanks to EU funding in the amount of $5.8 million, provided through the UNDP project “Addressing the Consequences of the Energy Crisis in Moldova.” Assistance is provided through two types of vouchers. Thus, a voucher for 500 lei can be spent on the purchase of energy-efficient LED lamps - about 50 thousand families received it. A voucher for 12 thousand lei - for compensation of up to 80% of the cost of purchasing new household appliances (refrigerator, washing machine, electric stove) - 2.2 thousand households received it. Vouchers can be used in the program’s partner stores. However, to replace household appliances, consumers must demonstrate their old appliances and pay 20% of the cost of new appliances. At this stage, only people who registered last year in the compensatii.gov.md system can use vouchers. Citizens who register on the platform this year will become potential beneficiaries of the program in 2024. As the director of the Energy Efficiency Agency, Ion Munteanu, clarified, beneficiaries are selected according to a number of criteria, including the degree of energy vulnerability, energy consumption, and the number of family members. During the launch of the program, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov noted that the project is aimed at increasing energy efficiency and supporting vulnerable citizens, emphasizing that household vulnerability can be reduced not only through compensation, but also by reducing energy consumption.
