The Government of Moldova is considering three scenarios for the development of the energy sector in the winter of 2023-2024 - Victor Parlicov.
The Minister of Energy stated this at a meeting in Brussels with the Deputy President of the European Commission and the European Commissioner for Interagency Relations and Administration Maroš Šefčovič. According to the Ministry of Energy, the parties discussed the preparation plan for the next heating season and the progress of transposing European legislation into the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and Moldova's integration into the European energy market. Victor Parlicov noted that, like last year, the Moldovan government takes into account three scenarios for the development of the energy sector for the winter of 2023-2024. This plan is at the stage of public consultations and should be adopted in June. However, as the head of the Ministry of Energy emphasized, now our country is much better prepared for the heating season, compared to last year. As Victor Parlicov emphasized, Moldovan companies from the energy sector already have experience in purchasing electricity and natural gas in the EU, synchronizing with European networks, and recently Energocom participated in the first auction of gas purchases through the common EU platform. According to him, this mechanism is designed to obtain more competitive prices, thanks to the collective bargaining power of European countries. “The proposals received by Energocom prove that the platform can be considered successful,” the head of the Ministry of Energy said. He thanked the European Union and EU countries for supporting Moldova over the past 1.5 years, both for financial assistance, which softened the shock of high energy prices, and for the experience, without which our country would not have made progress, noted by the Energy Community Secretariat. “We are determined to change the regulatory framework to create a true energy market, reduce dependence on Russia and diversify sources of supply. We want to attract investment and new technologies to the industry, focus on large projects with an impact on citizens, such as, for example, the Energy Efficient Housing Fund, which we want to launch this year,” the Minister of Energy said. Victor Parlicov is in Brussels to attend the 4th EU-Moldova High Level Energy Meeting on 23 May. As part of his participation in this event, he will hold meetings with Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, Director General of the Eastern Neighborhood in the European Commission Gert-Jan Koopman and a number of MEPs. Also, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova, headed by the Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov, will meet with the leaders of the European Network of Gas Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-G), the European Network of Electricity Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) and the Energy Community Secretariat. //22.05.2023 — InfoMarket.
