Energocom has requested bids for the purchase of 5,000 MWh of natural gas per month, or a total of 6,000 MWh, within the EU Joint Gas Purchase Platform.
The Moldovan Ministry of Energy reported this, noting that this is the minimum volume allowed by the platform in order to verify its functioning. "The prices obtained by Energocom's request with delivery to the virtual delivery point in Moldova are based on the FTT quotation. Energocom will continue to look for the best options for the purchase of natural gas at the right time and at the most competitive prices for Moldovan consumers," the Ministry of Energy said. The Ministry added that the European Commission said on Tuesday that the first tender within the EU Joint Gas Purchase Platform was an "outstanding success". Energy companies from the EU and other countries - Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and the Western Balkans - have applied until last week to buy 11.6 billion cubic meters of gas on the AggregateEU platform, while the offer of suppliers participating in the first round of bidding was 13.4 billion cubic meters. European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič, summarizing the results of the first tender for joint gas purchases at the EU level under the Energy Platform, called it an "outstanding success." "It shows that we were right to pool our demand, to use Europe’s collective pulling power and to work together to fill our gas storages for next winter," said Maroš Šefčovič. He thanked all 25 suppliers who had submitted offers that exceeded the EU's collective demand. The Vice President of the European Commission said that the most attractive offers had already been agreed with the customers, resulting in agreed volumes of 10.9 billion cubic meters. About 1/5 of this total volume is liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is delivered by ships to terminals located mainly in the Iberian Peninsula and the North Sea, and the remaining 80% comes from pipeline gas. // 18.05.2023 – InfoMarket
