Moldova intends to implement ambitious plans in the energy sector in the coming years and become a testing ground for innovative technologies.

Moldova intends to implement ambitious plans in the energy sector in the coming years and become a testing ground for innovative technologies.

This was stated by State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan, speaking on Wednesday at the opening of the specialized exhibition Moldenergy. “In the field of energy, we have managed to move very quickly over the past 1.5 years, but we have very ambitious plans for the coming years, which we will have to implement together with the private sector,” he stressed. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy said that the agency aims to create a testing ground for innovative technologies in Moldova by providing conditions for development and quickly bringing the investment market to a state of affairs. “We already have support from the US Department of Energy to include Moldova in the Net Zero World initiative, so we will have access to scientific cooperation with US research laboratories and additional funding. We aim government policies at the decarbonization of the economy. The largest source of greenhouse gas emissions is in the energy sector, and we will invest heavily in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources,” said Constantin Borosan. According to him, it's time to move to a new level and invest more confidently in energy efficiency, in the production of our own energy, in the diversification of gas and electricity sources. "The energy sector of Moldova should not be associated only with high tariffs and periodic crises, but should be synonymous with development, efficiency, a free and competitive market," the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy stressed.// 29.03.2023 — InfoMarket
