Moldova will be able to receive natural gas from Egypt through Romania.
This was announced by Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă during his official visit to Cairo. According to him, Romania wants to import natural gas from Egypt, including for Moldova, and this issue was discussed with Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla. "Diversification of gas supply resources will be, both for Romania and for Central and Eastern Europe, a solution to strengthen energy security. In Cairo, I discussed with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla concrete ways to activate our traditional relations through joint energy projects," Nicolae Ciucă said. He expressed confidence that the necessary solutions will be found to replenish the volume of gas needed for Romania, as well as to support Moldova. "The operational experience and transport networks at our disposal are important assets to qualify our country as a partner of projects developed together with Egyptian investors in the field of oil and gas. Consultations are continuing at expert level, as well as between the operator of the Romanian national gas transmission system, Transgaz, and the Egyptian subsidiary, ENI, which provides 60% of the gas needed for the consumption of this country", the Romanian PM said. // 07.02.2023 - InfoMarket
