Natural gas tariff for final consumers of Moldova will not decrease until the end of the heating season - Moldovagaz.

Natural gas tariff for final consumers of Moldova will not decrease until the end of the heating season - Moldovagaz.

Chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban expressed this opinion while speaking on the air of TV8. According to him, this is because the price of gas in February is still unknown. "It is changing. We are now working on the global market. Energocom buys basic volumes of gas, based only on the TTF exchange, and everything affects this quote," said Vadim Ceban. The head of Moldovagaz said that, under the law and the methodology adopted, Moldovagaz will have to refund all the accumulated tariff deviations. "Moldovagaz paid for natural gas in 2022, including from its own funds. According to the regulator's decision, we will repay these tariff deviations," Vadim Ceban said, adding that irrespectively of where the country buys the gas, the company must liquidate the financial deviations. At the same time, he admitted that now Energocom buys gas on the international market for the right bank of the Nistru River at a lower price than from Gazprom. According to Vadim Ceban, according to the government decision, Moldovagaz is obliged to buy gas from the supplier who offers the most favorable price. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu has earlier said the gas tariff for Moldovan end consumers may drop by about 10% in February. The official noted that the institution responsible for setting the gas prices is the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) and the possible reduction of the tariff for gas may take place after ANRE analyses all expenses related to purchase, transport, distribution and supply of gas to consumers. He explained that the adjustment of the tariff depends on the price at which Energocom will sell gas to Moldovagaz. As InfoMarket News Agency earlier reported, starting October 1, 2022, the tariff for gas supply to household consumers in Moldova was increased by 27.3% - from 22.99 to 29.27 lei per 1 cubic meter, VAT included. At the same time, the state will compensate consumers for the cost of 180 cubic meters of gas consumed during the month. For gas consumers with very high energy vulnerability, the price is of 12 lei per cubic meter, with high energy vulnerability - 14 lei per cubic meter, medium energy vulnerability - 17 lei per cubic meter, low energy vulnerability - 24 lei per cubic meter, and consumers without energy vulnerability will pay the full price for gas. // 02.02.2023 - InfoMarket
