Viomar Impex will provide the state reserve with about 15 thousand tons of fuel oil worth 300.08 million lei.

This follows from the data published by the Moldovan Public Procurement Agency. The value of the contract won by Viomar Impex amounts to 300 million 084.7 thousand lei. Viorel Schivu, the administrator and founder of Viomar Impex, told journalists that his company had offered the best price and the best conditions for fuel oil delivery. The price is about $1072 per ton of fuel oil delivered to the recipient. Thus, taking into account the contract price and the exchange rate, Viomar Impex will supply almost 15 thousand tons of fuel oil to the state reserve. It is planned that the first batch of fuel oil will arrive in the country by the end of this month. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu said that Moldovan authorities plan to increase and replenish the state reserve of fuel oil to diversify alternative sources of energy of natural gas. Fuel oil is an alternative to natural gas for Termoelectrica to produce electricity and provide heat to Chisinau municipality. The required volume is 216 thousand tons of fuel oil and can replace approximately 312 million cubic meters of gas, which is the estimated consumption for October-April 2022-2023. He noted that a contract has already been signed for the purchase of the first volumes of fuel oil, which will be sent to the state reserve. Besides, Termoelectrica will call a tender in the future and will purchase up to 20,000 tons of fuel oil," Andrei Spinu said. According to him, Moldova has capacities for storing 45-47 thousand tons of fuel oil and they are to be filled before the heating season starts. These volumes will suffice for a month and a half in winter and for two months in autumn. "Part of the fuel oil for the state reserve has already been purchased. We are now discussing the schedule for subsequent deliveries in order to rhythmically provide Termoelectrica with fuel oil," said Deputy Prime Minister. He acknowledged that fuel oil is cheaper than gas, and if Termoelectrica will generate heat by burning fuel oil instead of gas, the price of heat in the capital may go down. Now the cost of fuel oil is $600-800 per ton plus transportation costs. "As a result, for example, fuel oil from Romania will cost $900-1000 per ton," Andrei Spnu stated. // 17.08.2022 – InfoMarket
