Moldelectrica and Transelectrica have signed a contract enabling the start of commercial exchange of electricity between Moldova and Romania.

Romanian Transelectrica reported that, transport and system operators Moldelectrica and Transelectrica signed a contract on Thursday that will allow the allocation of capacity for commercial exchange of electricity on the interconnection between Moldova and Romania. As noted, the agreement signed between the two transport and system operators will be put into practice by allocating the capacity of the interconnection, which will allow a dynamic flow of electricity transactions between Moldovan and Romanian energy market participants. It is planned that the commercial exchange of electric power between Moldova and Romania will start as soon as all the technical details and commercial aspects have been agreed upon. The first electric power transactions between Romania and Moldova are planned to take place in October. It is emphasized that the successful implementation of the electricity trade process on the interconnection between Romania and Moldova represents a commitment of support between the two transport and system operators and also contributes to the development and proper functioning of the energy market at European level. On March 16, 2022, the power systems of Ukraine and Moldova were successfully synchronized with the European power system. // 11.08.2022 – InfoMarket
