Energocom will provide the public service of ensuring the purchase and storage of natural gas in emergency situations.
The government approved a resolution to this effect at a meeting on Wednesday. The document creates a legal mechanism which will allow Energocom to transparently initiate the procedure of purchasing the necessary volume of natural gas for its subsequent storage. This will allow ensuring security of gas supplies to consumers in emergency situations, in line with the provisions of the Law on Natural Gas and the agreement on the EBRD loan for the implementation of the project "Security of Natural Gas Supply" in Moldova. According to the document, Energocom is obliged to provide a public service of natural gas supply in emergency situations for 3 years. It is stipulated that Energocom buys or ensures the storage of natural gas and sells it to suppliers approved by ANRE on the basis of a framework contract of purchase and sale. The document stipulates specific situations in which Energocom will be able to sell natural gas purchased by Energocom in case of emergencies: if the supply of natural gas under existing contracts is suspended or limited; if natural gas needs to be supplied to consumers in volumes exceeding the contracted volumes; if the price of gas supplied by Energocom is lower than the price contracted with the main suppliers. // 10.08.2022 - InfoMarket.
