On-line education and turned off street lights at night may be used in Moldova as ways to save gas during the heating season.
It is also planned to reduce the temperature of the heating medium supplied through the centralized heating system to 10 percent, while meeting the minimum regulatory values. These measures are contained in the draft prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Action Plan necessary for the authorities/enterprises to prevent and mitigate the effects of the energy crisis in the event of cuts of natural gas supply. It is planned that the organization of the learning process online (at least 10 days a month) will save about 13 million cubic meters of gas, turning off street lighting at night (after 11 p.m.) will reduce gas consumption by 1.4 million cubic meters, and reducing the temperature of the heating agent supplied through the central heating system to 10%, while observing the minimum standards, will reduce the consumption of natural gas by 13 million cubic meters. It is also proposed to limit the temperature in the premises of private and public institutions to a maximum during non-working hours and weekends, and in hotels, restaurants, commercial and public buildings and households to limit the temperature in the premises to 19 °C. Employees of institutions and companies will also work in shifts at home, or their working hours will be reduced. The government intends to purchase the volumes of gas necessary to cover consumption from alternative sources or on the spot market. According to the estimates of the relevant ministry, with the EBRD loan and all measures to save gas, at an estimated average purchase price of 1,500 euros per thousand cubic meters of gas it will be possible to cover the deficit of gas until January and partially the consumption in February. // 03.08.2022 - InfoMarket.
