ANRE to increase the tariff for gas supply to households by 23.5% to 23 lei per 1 cubic meter, including VAT, and to approve it on August 4.

ANRE to increase the tariff for gas supply to households by 23.5% to 23 lei per 1 cubic meter, including VAT, and to approve it on August 4.

In particular, the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) announced that it would consider approving regulated prices for natural gas supplied by Moldovagaz at a public session on August 4, at 15:00. According to the draft decision, posted on its website, ANRE plans to raise the tariff for gas supplies to households not by 19.6% - from 18.62 to 22.27 lei per 1 cubic meter, VAT included, as was supposed earlier, but by 23.5% - from 18.62 to 23 lei per 1 cubic meter, VAT included, due to further increase of gas purchase price. In particular, ANRE proposes to increase the gas tariff for natural gas at low-pressure outlets (for residential consumers) by 23.5% - from 17244 lei to 21296 lei per 1,000 cubic meters (previously planned to be set at 20616 lei) (excluding VAT), or from 17.24 lei to 21.29 lei per 1 cubic meter (excluding VAT). At the same time, inclusive of 8% VAT it will be raised from 18.62 to 22.99 lei per 1 cubic meter (previously, the tariff was planned at 22.27 lei). ANRE plans to increase the tariff for natural gas at the outlet points of the medium-pressure gas distribution networks by 25.7% - from 15633 lei to 19654 lei per 1 thousand cu. m. (excluding VAT). New gas tariffs were calculated by ANRE based on average annual gas purchase price of $899 per 1,000 cubic meters and exchange rate of 18.58 lei per $1. It’s notable that Moldovagaz, in its June 30 request to ANRE, requested that the gas tariff for residential consumers should be increased by 42.4% - from 18.62 to 26.52 lei per 1 thousand cu. m., VAT included, calculated on the basis of the average annual purchase price of $770.64 per 1 thousand cu. m. for 2022. Later, it has become known that Moldovagaz has updated its request to ANRE to calculate the gas tariffs due to a new increase of gas purchase price on the international trade floors and proposed to increase the tariff for domestic consumers by 58.3% - from 18.62 to 29.48 lei per 1 cubic meter, VAT included. The company noted that a higher tariff increase than the one requested earlier is necessary because of a more significant increase in the purchase price of gas. The current tariff includes an average annual purchase price of $696.02 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas. Recently, Vadim Ceban, Chairman of Moldovagaz Board of Directors informed that in August 2022 the purchase price of Russian gas supplied to Moldova will reach a new record level of $458.5 per thousand cubic meters. It will increase by $478.5 (+48.8%), compared to July 2022. // 02.08.2022 - InfoMarket
