Works on the power line Vulcanesti-Chisinau are planned to be completed in 2024.

Works on the power line Vulcanesti-Chisinau are planned to be completed in 2024.

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu confirmed the deadlines for the completion of works during a visit to the Chisinau 330 kV power plant, which is already in the process of modernization and will become a link with the mentioned transmission line. Recall that in January of this year, an agreement was signed for the performance of work between UCIPE - MEPIU and the association of companies from Romania Siemens Energy - Electromontaj - Energotech, which was recognized as the winner of the international tender. According to Andrei Spinu, the power plant is currently at the design stage. From autumn, the land, access roads and work sites will be prepared, including for the installation of an autotransformer. From the spring of 2023, will begin construction work and installation of equipment for 400 kV. Completion of work under the contract is expected to be completed at the end of 2024. As InfoMarket agency reported earlier, the construction of a 400 kV high-voltage transmission line Vulcanesti-Chisinau was recognized in Moldova as a project of national importance. The total cost of the contract for the construction of a high-voltage transmission line Vulcanesti-Chisinau 400 kV, signed with the Indian company KEC International, is almost 27 million euros. The Vulcanesti-Chisinau power lines should be built within 3 years and 4 months from the date of signing the contract. This transmission line will be built as part of a project to interconnect the power grids of Moldova and Romania with a total cost of 260 million euros, the purpose of which is to ensure the energy security of the country. The project is planned to be implemented with the support of the EBRD (a loan of 80 million euros), the EIB (a loan of 80 million euros), the International Development Association from the World Bank Group (a loan of 61 million euros), the European Union (a grant of 39.4 million euros). The project “Interconnection of electric networks of Moldova and Romania, stage I” provides for the construction of a power transmission line Vulcanesti-Chisinau with a length of 158 km; construction of a back-to-back converter station in Vulcanesti to provide a connection between the Moldovan power system, the European network of transmission system operators ENTSO-E and the Integrated Electricity System/Unified Energy System (IPS/UPS); modernization and expansion of existing stations in Chisinau and Vulcanesti 400 kV. At the same time, as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu noted earlier, since the power grids of Moldova and Ukraine were previously synchronized with the European energy network ENTSO-E, it may not be necessary to build a Back-to-Back station, since its presence was a solution for the previous situation.// 15.08.2022 — InfoMarket
