Moldova won the prestigious wine tourism award for the best wine route “Wine Routes of Moldova” at the 8th ITER VITIS Awards ceremony

This prestigious event recognizes outstanding achievements in wine tourism and the preservation of the cultural heritage of wine on a global level. The award emphasizes the international recognition of Moldova's influence in the field of wine tourism and provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the rich wine traditions of our country as a leading destination for cultural and wine tourism. The “Wine Routes of Moldova” has become part of the ITER VITIS - Les Chemins de la Vigne network, starting from 2020, offering authentic wine experiences and enotourism itineraries that encourage tourists to discover the old European wine culture, as well as the wine traditions of the new generation of winemakers. The ITER VITIS Awards ceremony took place at a winery in the Codru wine region, gathered special guests, as well as representatives of international organizations and European cultural institutions - ITER VITIS members. Along with Moldova, 15 other member states of the ITER VITIS - Les Chemins de la Vigne European Cultural Route of the Council of Europe were awarded for the development of sustainable wine tourism, preservation of ancient grape varieties, promotion of cultural exchange, best wine tourism activities and destinations, most innovative wine tourism experience, best wine and gastronomic experience, best educational experience in viticulture and winemaking, best cultural package: wine, food, sea and holy places, etc. The awards highlight innovation, sustainability and collaboration in global wine tourism, and the event in Moldova brought together industry leaders, cultural institutions and winemakers to share best practices, celebrating the link between wine, heritage and tourism. Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe includes more than 30 itineraries certified under the auspices of the international forum and aims to promote travel to discover Europe's diverse heritage and highlight global values: human rights, diversity, cross-border intercultural values, dialogue and sustainable tourism development.
