Moldova plays an increasingly important role on the international wine tourism market
This was stated during the Global Conference on Wine Tourism ITER VITIS held in Chisinau. According to USAID Moldova, the event is a platform for cooperation and exchange of ideas between experts and special guests from all over Europe and the business community in tourism, winemaking and culture. Conference participants discuss the economic impact of wine tourism, public sector support for cultural projects, and the strategic role of wine tourism in the Danube region and on the international stage. USAID has supported Moldova's wine industry since 2005 and tourism industry since 2013, contributing to economic growth, creating jobs in rural areas, and positioning Moldova as a true tourism destination. In addition, USAID facilitated Moldova's integration into the ITER VITIS Federation and the connection of Moldova's Wine Routes to the ITER VITIS Les Chemins de la Vigne route. The USAID-supported Wine Routes of Moldova include 40 wineries and received a European Cultural Route certificate in February 2020. The ITER VITIS - Les Chemins de la vigne Conference and General Assembly is organized by the National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association (ANTRIM), under the auspices of the Moldovan Ministry of Culture, with the support of the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund (UMAEF) and the USAID project “Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity” in partnership with the National Bureau of Vine and Wine, the Tourist Information Center of Moldova and the private sector. // 18.10.2024 - InfoMarket.
