
Startups Langly and NodeShift represented Moldova at Startup World Cup
The Startup World Cup was held in Silicon Valley, San Francisco. In the fight for the main prize of $1 million, projects from Moldova competed with startups-finalists of national pitches from more than 50 countries of the world. Langly is an Oxford-accredited educational platform dedicated to learning English. It helps users develop their language skills in a fun and effective way, using game-based methods and social-emotional learning. The startup NodeShift aims to reduce the cost of cloud services by up to 80%. The platform stands out for its commitment to privacy and its ability to significantly reduce operational costs without sacrificing speed and reliability. Langly was the winner of the Chisinau startup pitching event held in July, and NodeShift won the national pitching event in August. Both events were organized by Startup Moldova with the support of the Future Technologies Activity (FTA), which is funded by USAID, Sweden, the UK and the Moldova-Ukraine American Enterprise Fund (UMAEF). The general partner of the competition is maib, in collaboration with Mozaic and Business Angels Moldova. Startup World Cup is a global series of conferences and competitions that brings together the best technology startups, investors, entrepreneurs and executives from around the world. The event, organized annually by Pegasus Tech Ventures, has become a unique platform for sharing experience, knowledge, networking and inspiration. This year, more than 100 regional events were held around the world, and the winner of the Startup World Cup grand finale was EarthGrid from the United States, which won $1 million, while the second place winner was startup Alterno from Vietnam, and the third place winner was Virginia Beach, USA.
