The IMF has announced the establishment of a new regional technical assistance center for Moldova and other countries in Southeast Europe
Specifically, the Fund stated that it will establish a new regional capacity-building center in Rome to strengthen economic institutions and policies in the member countries of Southeast Europe. The new Southeast Europe Regional Technical Assistance Center (SEETAC) will work with the countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia) and Moldova, which are seeking to join the European Union. SEETAC will begin operations by January 2027. “I am pleased to announce the establishment of SEETAC, which will help address the significant capacity-building needs of IMF member countries in Southeast Europe, enhancing macroeconomic stability and resilience, growth prospects, and progress toward EU accession,” said IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. SEETAC will join a network of 17 IMF regional technical assistance centers around the world. The center will provide targeted technical assistance in key areas of macroeconomic management: fiscal policy, monetary and financial policy, macroeconomic frameworks and forecasting, statistics, and legal issues. //25.03.2026 – InfoMarket.
