Implementation of strategic projects and investments within the Economic Development Package will lead to Moldova's GDP growth by over 5% by 2028 - Dorin Recean

The Prime Minister said this at a meeting with representatives of local authorities and deconcentrated services in Hincesti district. He discussed with them the implementation of projects to modernize settlements, the benefits included in the "Budget Plus" package, as well as the EU's support for the country's economic development through the Moldova Growth Plan. The head of the Cabinet called on mayors to continue projects that solve the most pressing problems of the people, noting that the "European Village" program offers such opportunities and prepares settlements for the development of pre-accession funding. Dorin Recean emphasized that over the past 3 years, the government has allocated about 220 million lei in Hincesti district for the implementation of 57 projects under the "European Village" program. According to him, water and sewerage networks, renovated kindergartens, street lighting, sports grounds, cultural and environmental projects are just some of the examples showing the authorities' care for the residents of Hincesti district. The Prime Minister also spoke about the adoption of the "Budget Plus" package - the largest financial package ever allocated by the Moldovan government for investments and economic growth. "Budget Plus" provides for allocations of about 8 billion lei and is built on two pillars: the energy package and the economic development package. According to the Prime Minister, the energy package includes the necessary social measures and ongoing support for the population: compensation for electricity in the bill for the first 110 kWh, cash compensation for heating during the cold season, compensation allocated by local authorities for hospitals, kindergartens, schools and other institutions with a social mission to reduce electricity costs. To make the winter period and payment of bills easier, families were offered assistance for Easter. Touching upon the Economic Development Package, Dorin Recean noted that the money will be directed to strategic projects and investments, which is expected to lead to economic growth of over 5% by 2028. The head of the Cabinet recalled that our country will receive the largest financial aid package from the EU in the amount of 1.9 billion euros, and on May 9, Europe Day, the Growth Plan for Moldova was signed. "It will help us develop infrastructure, energy security, improve health services, and carry out reforms. Our priority is to maintain the same pace, transform our communities into clean, safe and modern ones," the Prime Minister said. In turn, local representatives asked for support from the central authorities in solving problems related to changing the intended purpose of unused real estate, building water supply and sewerage networks, and expanding the Prut Floodplain project.// 15.05.2025 – InfoMarket
