
The World Bank will provide a $3.6 million grant to Moldova to improve public procurement efficiency
In particular, this will be provided for by the grant agreement between Moldova, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association for the implementation of the Moldova Growth, Resilience and Opportunity for Prosperity (M-GROW) Multi-Donor Trust Fund Program to finance the Support to Public Procurement Efficiency in Moldova project. The Government of Moldova approved the draft of this grant agreement and authorized the Minister of Finance Victoria Belous to sign the document. According to the Ministry of Finance, the mentioned grant financing from the IBRD and IDA will be aimed at supporting the development of a more transparent, digitalized and sustainable public procurement system, including investments in electronic platforms, staff training and the creation of centralized procurement units at the central and local levels. The purpose of the grant is to support the reform of the public procurement system through strategic investments in digitalization, strengthening institutional capacity and promoting sustainable and efficient public procurement. Financial resources will be allocated to activities that directly contribute to increasing the transparency and efficiency of the use of public funds, especially through the modernization of the electronic public procurement system and the introduction of a centralized procurement model. In terms of economic impact, the grant will contribute to the creation of a fair competitive environment for economic operators and reduce corruption risks in the public procurement process.
