During the EBRD's work in Moldova, financing agreements have been signed for 177 projects with a total value exceeding 2.4 billion euros
At the same time, the European Investment Bank's total assistance portfolio for Moldova amounts to about 1.3 billion euros for 33 projects. This was said during a meeting that Prime Minister Dorin Recean held with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), who are in Chisinau on the occasion of the 5th meeting of Moldova Partnership Platform. The dialogue with EIB Vice President Teresa Czerwinska and EBRD Director General for Moldova and Ukraine Arvid Tuerkner focused on the projects implemented in Moldova with the support of the two financial institutions and the reforms they backed. Dorin Recean thanked Moldova's institutional investors for their constant support for the authorities' efforts to improve the quality of life in Moldova and to promote the country's European development path. The sides discussed the current needs for more support in some segments, particularly in the high value-added agriculture. “The financial and expert support is invaluable and will help us increase the sector's resilience to climate change,” Prime Minister said. He said the EBRD and the EIB are the largest institutional investors in our country, providing assistance for projects in banking and finance, road and rail infrastructure, energy, agriculture, waste management, entrepreneurship and health. On September 17, within the Moldova Partnership Platform, the Moldovan government and the EBRD signed an agreement, according to which the E5P Fund (Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund) provides a grant of over 4.3 million euros for the modernization of the waste management infrastructure. At the same time, a grant assistance agreement was signed with the EIB, under which Moldova will benefit from a 12-million-euro grant within the project on the rehabilitation of a 128-kilometre-long railroad segment on the Valcinet-Ungheni-Chisinau-Cainari section. // 18.09.2024 - InfoMarket.
