
The United States will provide additional grants to Moldova totaling $38.2 million to strengthen democracy and sustainable economic growth
This is stipulated by Amendment No. 15 to the Development Assistance Agreement between the governments of Moldova and the United States for Strengthening Participatory Democracy and Amendment No. 18 to the Development Assistance Agreement between the governments of Moldova and the United States for Sustainable Economic Growth Based on European Integration, which the sides signed within the 5th edition of the Ministerial Conference of the Moldova Partnership Platform held in Chisinau. Under the first project, Moldova will have access to an additional $12.2 million grant for projects that will improve the quality of public services, increase the transparency of public institutions, promote media independence, and encourage greater citizen participation in decision-making. Under the second project, Moldova will have access to additional resources in a $26 million grant. The new financing will promote trade, improve the investment climate, increase exports, and enhance energy security by diversifying energy supply sources and strengthening the national energy infrastructure.
