Projects from Moldova can take part in the grant program of the US Ambassadors Fund for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and receive funding from $10 thousand to $500 thousand.
This program supports the preservation of historic buildings, archaeological sites, manuscripts, museum collections, and traditional cultural expressions such as indigenous languages and crafts in more than 120 countries. The competition takes place in two stages: during the first, applicants present the concept of the project, indicating the goals. By the second round, invited candidates must submit a complete application. The first round of the competition will run from January 19 to March 15, 2024. In 2024, the U.S. Embassy plans to prioritize projects that directly support U.S. obligations under treaties or bilateral agreements, reduce the risk of natural disasters affecting cultural heritage, and restore cultural heritage, partnerships, collaborations or associations with other educational or cultural programs of the US Embassy. More information is available at SAM.gov. Project concepts can be sent until January 19, 2024 to leancaai@state.gov (Alexandru Leanca, project coordinator). It is worth noting that over the past two decades, the foundation has provided $1.5 million in grants to finance projects in Moldova. Thanks to the grants, it was possible to record traditional forms of Moldavian music and dance, build a visitor center and preserve the medieval bath complex in Old Orhei, preserving valuable exhibits National Historical Museum of Moldova, old and rare books in the National Library of Moldova, Gagauz folklore, customs and rituals, etc. The Assumption Church in Causeni is currently being restored, and the latest project financed by the foundation is the preservation of the funeral hall (beit kaddishim ) at the Jewish cemetery in Chisinau.// 20.11.2023 — InfoMarket
