Moldova will receive financial support of 148.7 million euros, including 38.7 million euros in grants and 110 million euros in concessional loans for the development of strategic sectors.
The government's press service reported this, noting that this is stipulated by 6 financing agreements signed on October 17 within the Moldova Support Platform in Chisinau. The funds will be used to support the development of infrastructure, energy and adaptation to climate change. The statements of the participating countries and organizations regarding the general support offered to Moldova are still being systematized and will be published in the coming days. The Cabinet said that the Moldovan government signed a memorandum of agreement with the French Development Agency and the German development bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) on cooperation in the energy efficiency sector of public buildings. Another signed document concerns a new credit line offered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for gas procurement, as well as a grant provided under the Nansen program by the Norwegian government, also for this purpose. Moreover, also to ensure the country's energy security, Moldova will receive support from the European Investment Bank. "Some funds will be allocated starting next year and our task is to work out the necessary mechanisms to ensure the utilization of these funds. It is important for us that every person in Moldova feels the positive effect of the projects implemented with the support of our partners," Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said. Also, the Moldovan government and the French Development Agency signed a Memorandum of Agreement, which creates the necessary conditions for reforming the forestry sector and regulating the forest management process. "With the help of these resources, we start the reform of the forest sector and the efficient management of forests, including by allocating money for the afforestation of our country," Environment Minister Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov said. A memorandum of agreement on advisory services and technical assistance between Moldova and the European Investment Bank was also signed. "This support will help us implement major projects in the infrastructure, environment and energy sectors that will benefit all our citizens," Government Secretary General Artur Mija said. Finance Minister Petru Rotaru said that, after the signing of the documents, Moldova will have access to various financial instruments that will speed up the implementation of reforms in key fields. "We will mobilize to meet the set goals and by paying the amounts granted to us, they will help modernize the infrastructure, carry out reforms and build a European state," he said. // 18.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
