Beneficiaries from Moldova will have access to EU grants of 65 million euros for environmental projects destined for the Black Sea region.

In particular, this is provided for by a Parliament-ratified financing agreement between Moldova, the European Commission and the Romanian Ministry for Development, Public Works and Administration for the Interreg VI-B NEXT program of the Black Sea Basin 2021-2027. The tripartite agreement was signed on August 11 and aims to establish a national legal framework for the participation and absorption by Moldovan beneficiaries of the financial resources offered in a grant from the European Commission under the 2021-2027 program cycle. The program aims at improving the living standards of the citizens of the Black Sea region through sustainable economic growth and joint environmental protection. It is planned to finance projects that will contribute to environmental protection and combating the effects of climate change. Investments will also be granted to projects aimed at strengthening research and innovation capacity, stimulating competitiveness and intelligence. The first call for proposals for the program was launched on March 30 and closed on July 4. A total of 60 beneficiaries from Moldova submitted project proposals and the evaluation phase is underway. The ratification of the agreement will grant the program beneficiaries from 7 participating countries the possibility to access financial resources in a grant of 65 million euros to implement joint projects based on the principle of partnership. The total budget of the Interreg VI-B NEXT program for the Black Sea Basin 2021-2027 is about 72.2 million euros. At the same time, it is envisaged that the beneficiaries will co-finance at least 10% of the activities envisaged in the projects. //27.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
