
The Council of Europe Development Bank will provide Moldova with a loan of 86 million euros for the construction of a regional hospital in Balti.
This is provides for, inter alia, by the framework loan agreement between Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) for the implementation of the project "Construction of the Balti Regional Hospital", the ratification of which was approved by the Moldovan government. The document itself was signed in Chisinau on October 16, 2023. The CEB loan will be granted for 20 years with a grace period of 5 years. The loan will be repaid in at least two installments. The amount of each installment will be determined based on incurred costs and/or projected costs. The amount of the first installment will not exceed 20% of the loan amount. The share of the CEB financing will be approximately 80% of the total project cost, which is estimated at 108 million euros. Thus, the Moldovan Government's contribution should amount to about 21 million euros. The area of the new regional hospital in Balti will be about 38 thousand square meters, with 340 inpatient and 78 outpatient beds. The construction is scheduled to be completed by 2028. As the Ministry of Health notes, thus, the population of the northern region of Moldova will have access to quality and safe tertiary care services, with the most modern equipment, which are currently provided only in Chisinau. These are such fields as interventional surgery, cardiology and neurology, endoscopy, cancer treatment, advanced diagnostics. The ultimate goal of the project "Construction of the Balti Regional Hospital" is to modernize the health care system and improve the quality of medical services provided to the population, increase efficiency and results; reduce preventable child morbidity and mortality. The Balti Regional Hospital is to be built on a 5-hectare plot of land on the outskirts of Corlateni village, Riscani district. // 01.11.2023 - InfoMarket
