Moldova will have access to EU grants worth 77.3 million euros to implement joint projects in border areas with Romania.

Moldova will have access to EU grants worth 77.3 million euros to implement joint projects in border areas with Romania.

In particular, this is provided for by the tripartite financing agreement between Moldova, the European Commission and the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration for the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania-Moldova 2021-2027 program, ratified by the Parliament. The Interreg program aims at improving the living standards of citizens in the border areas between Moldova and Romania through investments in infrastructure, training, exchange of experience, etc. Based on grants from the European Commission, the following priorities will be financed: green communities, social development and cooperation in the border zone. Co-financing of at least 10% of the project budget is required from the program beneficiaries.
