Südzucker Moldova is the largest green electricity supplier in Moldova.
According to the data presented by Südzucker Moldova Board Member Oleg Arseni at the conference “Foreign Investors for Moldova's Sustainable Development”, the company is implementing the largest energy efficiency project, having invested 14 million euros in biogas production. The company currently produces about 8.5 million cubic meters of biogas per year from secondary raw materials left over from sugar production, and supplies the state power grid with 18.2 million kWh per year, producing 3.6 MWh of electricity. As for the main activity of the company, Oleg Arseni said that Südzucker Moldova's investments in the modernization of white sugar production in Moldova amounted to about 60 million euros. This year, the sugar beet harvest, according to Arseni, is the only one that has brought profit to agricultural producers in the north of the country. Other agricultural crops have been badly affected by the drought. At the same time, the quality of Südzucker Moldova white sugar, according to Arseni, is highly appreciated both in the Moldovan market and in export markets. The investments of the company and its agricultural partners in equipment and technologies exceeded 120 million lei. However, Oleg Arseni drew attention to the fact that large foreign investors and domestic enterprises wishing to work in the field of renewable energy sources cannot develop their business due to the outdated tariff policy, which needs to be reviewed. In addition, it is necessary to promote subsidies not only for solar and wind energy, but also for other renewable energy projects. Südzucker Moldova is also waiting for the approval of the land code and irrigation program. // 08.11.2022 — InfoMarket
