The government has approved the ratification of an agreement on a credit line for 60 million euros from the French Development Agency (AFD).

This is an agreement signed on 28 October. The funds are intended to mitigate the effects of the energy crisis and increase the resilience of the railway sector, as well as to support reforms in the railway and energy sectors. It is noted that the loan will help our country promote renewable energy, increase the resilience of the railway sector and mitigate the impact of the energy crisis on low-income families. In the short term, this budget support for policy implementation is a response to Moldova's urgent funding needs in the context of the Ukrainian crisis (rising energy prices, influx of refugees). In the medium term, this program will support regulatory reforms that promote convergence with EU standards and norms, diversify energy sources and decarbonise the Moldovan economy. The loan has a maturity of 15 years, including a 5-year grace period. AFD is a French government organization that finances sustainable development projects in developing countries. To consolidate activities in Moldova, in February 2022, AFD opened its representative office in Chisinau. In the summer of 2021, it received a mandate to provide assistance to Moldova in the field of environment, energy and quality drinking water // 02.11.2022 — InfoMarket
