Moldova and France to expand cooperation in the public finance sector

This was said during a meeting that Finance Minister Victoria Belous held with French Ambassador to Moldova Dominique Waag, representatives of the Embassy's economic and financial mission and the director of the French Development Agency (AFD) Group's office in Moldova, Maxime Lebovics. According to the Finance Ministry, the discussions focused on the Moldovan Finance Ministry's progress in the management of public finances. In this context, Victoria Belous emphasized the consolidation of the internal management control, automation of the risk management, the launch of the rewriting of the Tax Code, sustainable management of the external debt, the reform of the public procurement and the EU integration process. At the same time, the two sides discussed the needs of the Finance Ministry in modernizing the management of public finances, including digitalization of services and better control of European funding, as well as the support that the French side can provide in this regard. Representatives of the French Embassy and AFD confirmed their continued support for the reform projects and expressed their willingness to cooperate in their implementation. “This meeting confirms the commitment of both sides to the development of a modern, transparent and efficient financial system needed on Moldova's European path,” the Finance Ministry said in a statement. // 01.04.2025 - InfoMarket
