Moldovan Customs Service strengthens cooperation with the EU in the field of security of the international logistics chain
As noted in the CS press release, in particular, the agency hosted a European mission dedicated to the security and reliability of the international logistics chain within the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) Program. The event was organized in cooperation with the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission (TAIEX) and was led by experts from the Italian Customs and State Monopoly Agency. The main topics covered were the continuous implementation of mechanisms for monitoring the benefits of the decision on mutual recognition of AEO programs between Moldova and the European Union, the exchange of best practices in the application of security standards, as well as the development of the national customs authority's capacity to manage these processes. During the seminar, European experts positively assessed the compatibility of the operational processes applied by the Customs Service with European standards and legal requirements, thereby confirming Moldova's commitment to integration into the European customs area. The Director of the Customs Service, Alexandru Iacub, welcomed the intensification of cooperation with European experts, emphasizing the strategic importance of this cooperation for Moldova. According to him, the strong partnership with the European Union within the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) Programme represents an important basis for ensuring and facilitating international trade. “We continue to work actively to strengthen these mechanisms so that economic operators in Moldova benefit from the best practices and advantages recognized at European level,” he said. During the mission, the European experts also carried out a practical visit to an authorized economic operator, learning about the national authorization procedures and the specific benefits that this status provides. TAIEX is the European Commission’s instrument for technical assistance and information exchange, designed to support the harmonization of national legislation and practices with EU standards.// 31.03.2025 — InfoMarket
